Getting
Married
Finding that special someone to share your life
with is one of life's richest rewards. The months and days leading up to a wedding
seem to fly by, with so many details to attend to. Yet many engaged couples are
so busy with wedding plans, they tend to neglect details relating to their insurance
and financial services - details that need to be addressed prior to their wedding.
As far as your insurance program is concerned, every aspect should be reviewed.
If you and your fiancé have different companies for your automobile
insurance you need to choose one company and insure both cars there. Prior
to the wedding, if you choose to specifically insure the engagement ring, it should
be insured with the bride's (or her parents) insurance carrier. Also in advance
of the wedding, secure insurance coverage for the home or
apartment where you will be living after you are married. No matter how your
health insurance is set up, review all the options
available to you as a married couple. You may want to keep coverage through your
individual employers, or add one spouse to the other's group coverage, depending
on the quality of benefits or the cost. If neither of you have health insurance
coverage where you work, carefully consider buying a policy to cover both of you.
Through our relationship with Missouri's two Blue Cross plans, as well as other
carriers, we can offer you a wide array of options.
In addition, both the bride and groom should take
care of life insurance and disability
income coverage. Committing your lives to one another includes committing
to protecting each other from financial loss related to death or disability. Your
Farm Bureau agent is experienced in working with young couples to review their
insurance needs. Our Client Service Folder is a valuable tool in such a review.
